Are Cold Heading And Cold Pressing The Same Thing?
Cold heading and cold extrusion are basically the same conditions of deformation processing, but in the way of operation is different.
Cold pier belongs to the forging deformation of smaller workpiece, which is often used in fastener industry. Cold extrusion belongs to the extrusion deformation of larger workpiece, which is widely used.
What is cold extrusion?
Cold extrusion is to put the metal blank in the cold extrusion cavity, at room temperature, through the press press fixed punch to the blank pressure, so that the metal blank plastic deformation and produced parts of the processing method, obviously, cold extrusion processing is to rely on the mold to control the flow of metal, by a large number of metal volume transfer to form parts.
What is cold heading?
Cold heading is one of the new processes of metal pressure machining with little or no cutting.
It is a kind of plastic deformation of metal under the action of external force, and with the help of the mold, the metal volume for redistribution and transfer, so as to form the required parts or blank processing method.
Are cold heading and cold pressing the same thing?

Cold heading is equivalent to a branch of cold extrusion. Simply speaking, in the process of making bolts, hexagonal head forming belongs to cold heading, and rod part shrinking belongs to cold extrusion (positive extrusion). Uncut hexagonal flange bolts (multi-station forming) have both cold heading and cold extrusion. Before forming hexagonal nuts, there is only cold heading. In the rear process, the hole extrusion belongs to cold extrusion (positive and negative extrusion).
