The First Photovoltaic Project In The Americas
Recently, the Palmyra III Photovoltaic project, an EPC photovoltaic project undertaken by China Hydropower Bureau 11, realized the first batch of power generation. The project is the first photovoltaic project executed by Power China in Colombia and the first in the Americas by Hydropower 11.
The project started construction on May 4, 2022. The innovative mode of localized subcontracting management was adopted. Through active communication with the owner and supervisor, the project formulated reasonable construction plan, optimized resource allocation, refined construction management, overcame many adverse factors, and successfully achieved the first power generation target, which was praised by the owner and supervisor. The entire project is expected to be handed over in early 2023.
In addition to the implementation of the agreement, the project department actively organized new energy knowledge training and staff recruitment for the surrounding communities, creating about 160 jobs for the surrounding residents (female employees account for about 23%), and taking responsibility for the community and localization. Upon completion, the project will provide an average of 20 million KWH of clean electricity per year, equivalent to saving 8,000 tons of standard coal per year and reducing 19,940 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
The Palmyra III PV project is an important symbol of Colombia’s green energy transition. The smooth implementation of the project has laid a solid foundation for hydropower 11th Bureau to further explore the new energy market.
