On the afternoon of January 5, local time, the first photovoltaic project invested and developed by Power China — the first photovoltaic project in Central Myanmar (Jingwing) power generation ceremony was successfully held in Naypyidaw. Several Union ministers, chief ministers of provinces and states of Myanmar, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Chen Hai, Economic and Commercial Counselor Tan Shufu and other officials attended the ceremony.

It took eight months for the Jingrong Project to start generating electricity, making it a miracle for Chinese enterprises to start generating electricity in the same year as a power generation project in Myanmar, which was highly recognized by the Chinese and Myanmar governments.

Ambassador Chen Hai congratulated on the successful grid connection of the project. He said that the Jingrong Project, which is the first to be connected to the grid for power generation, is another successful example of the cooperation between China and Myanmar in the field of electricity, which will effectively improve the power shortage in relevant areas of Myanmar and promote the local economic and social development. In the process of project construction, the project enterprise also did not forget to fulfill its social responsibility, and carried out loving donations to the surrounding people to enhance friendship, establishing a good corporate image. It is believed that more Chinese power projects will be launched in Myanmar in the future, bearing more fruits of cooperation and benefiting more people in Myanmar.

In his speech, Myanmar Minister of Electricity Dang Han noted that the Jingrong Photovoltaic power generation project can produce 63.7 million KWH of electricity annually, which can supply a total of 29,670 households in Myanmar throughout the year. Currently, China is mainly cooperating with China Power Construction to implement solar power generation projects. In the future, China will also play an important role in Myanmar’s hydropower projects. China is welcome to invest more in hydropower and wind power projects in Myanmar.

With a total investment of 149 million US dollars, the central Myanmar photovoltaic project group has a grid-connected capacity of 160 megawatts and an annual electricity generation capacity of 342 million kilowatt-hours, which can meet the electricity consumption of 1 million rural households in Myanmar. It is the first photovoltaic project invested by Power China overseas and the largest new energy power generation project group in Myanmar.

In addition to the Ministry of Electricity of Myanmar, the ministers of Commerce, Construction, Energy, information, Science and Technology, Labour, Natural resources, Agricultural Development and Chief ministers of Kachin and Magui provinces and other federal ministerial officials also attended the ceremony.
